On Friday the 9th of February 3P Technik Director Dr Glyn Hyett attended a Sustainable Drainage SuDS Workshop. The event was hosted by the Welsh Government at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales.
The purpose of the day was to raise awareness of Schedule 3 of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, the timetable for implementation and the practical implications of the SuDS Approval Process in Wales. The workshop was well attended by representatives from Local Authorities, DCWW, NRW, Developers and Consultants.
Schedule 3 and SuDS Approval Bodies (SAB) will be implemented in Wales on the 7th of January 2019.
During the workshop it was suggested that the new SAB may charge a fee for an application for approval determined as follows;
- (a) £350 for each application; and
- (b) an additional amount up to £7,500 calculated by a reference to the size of the construction area.
Information will be clearer nearer implementation in early January 2019.
The diagram (Annex G) highlights how increasingly important drainage considerations for new developments are in Wales.
Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss your upcoming developments to ensure SuDS and the SAB are fully considered.
